Chassis:
One of the BMW Junior backed March 782s, this example was driven that year by Marc Surer. Although he failed to score a victory, the young Swiss driver finished on the podium five teams. That was enough to place second in the European Formula Two Championship behind March Racing team-mate Bruno Giacomelli. Chassis 8 was later sold to the a British privateer, who ran the car in Formula Atlantic specifications. The next custodian was a French hill-climb racer and it then spent then next 30 years in a French collection. In dismantled but complete condition, it was found during the late 2010s by Matthew Watts of Retro Track and Air. He subsequently restored the car to its original configuration. In 2022, it was run by Ben Mitchell in the timed Shoot Out at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. He set the third fastest time, which made the March 782 the fastest internal combustion engined car of the field.
