Chassis:
Sold through Rose & Company of London, this Cabriolet A was delivered new to a Mr. Cockburn. The right-hand drive model was then sold on to the United States during the 1950s. Shortly thereafter, it was painted gold with black features. The car changed hands several times during the next decades and was also briefly part of the impressive Hans Thulin Collection. During the early 1990s, it was refinished in black with red accents and joined a formidable American collection. Although restored, it retains many original components that have long been lost on other cars like the wooden floorboards. Having been part of the same stable for three decades, it was finally consigned to the 2022 RM Sotheby's Monterey sale with the rest of the Masterworks of Design Collection.
