Chassis:
Built on a standard chassis, this 'Blower' was dispatched to coach builder Vanden Plas for the Le Mans style Tourer bodywork. It was completed in July of 1930 and dispatched to Scotland for its 27-year old owner Gerard Bristowe Sanderson. It was sold on in 1933 and moved to London. A subsequent owner had Bentley fit a larger fuel tank during a regular service in 1936. Safely stored during the War, chassis SM3913 was briefly raced during the 1950s and then sold to the United States in 1955. Its first American owner was Richard E. Stitt and he would own the Blower for over 30 years. The subsequent owners were Tim Scott and Don Williams of the Blackhawk Collection. It then crossed the Atlantic once more and was sympathetically restored by specialists P&A Wood. After it changed hands again, it was restored more comprehensively by R.C. Moss with the invoices exceeding £700,000. It was then shown at Pebble Beach in 2019 where it won 'Best in Class'. Not shown again, it was then consigned as one of the headliners of the 2022 Gooding Pebble Beach Auctions.
