Chassis:
Acquired new by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, this Type 35C debuted with a fourth overall in the inaugural Monaco Grand Prix. Later in 1929, next owner Juan Zanelli won the Grand Prix Bugatti at Le Mans. It would change hands twice more before the end of 1930 and its racing career came to an end with the fatal crash of Edouard Grammont in Grenoble. It was eventually rebuilt and then only had three subsequent owners in the next 80 years. Having spent most of its life in France, it eventually joined the collection of Dutchman Bart Rosman in 1997. He used the car extensively and made three appearance in the Monaco Historic Grand Prix. Following Rosman’s passing in 2021, it was consigned by his estate to the 2023 Artcurial Retromobile sale.
