Chassis:
Parisian Bugatti agent Dominique Lamberjack ordered six Type 55 chassis to be bodied by Vanvooren with Cabriolet style body. This example was delivered by Bugatti in 1932 and subsequently completed at Vanvooren in Courbevoie. It sat on the Lamberjack showroom floor for several years before it was finally acquired by customer Eugène Leleux in May of 1936. In 1941, the Type 55 was stolen but Leleux was able regain possession shortly thereafter. It found a new owner in 1948 and changed hands only a few times before it was sold to a prominent Dutch collector in 2013. The car had survived remarkably complete and was subsequently restored by Martin Dijkhof Autorestorations from The Netherlands. Shown only a handful of times since, it was consigned to the 2023 Bonhams Les Grandes Marques du Monde sale in Paris. Described as the most original of the surviving Vanvooren Type 55s, it has a pre-sale estimate of €3,000,000 - €4,000,000.
