Chassis:
Through importer Edgar Fronteras, this diminutive OSCA was acquired new by Pennsylvania racer Jim Eichenlaub. He raced the car extensively and consistent performances enabled him to win the 1959 SCCA National Championship. After two more outings in 1960 with Eichenlaub, the S187 was sold to John Igleheart. He continued to race the car as did next owners Scott Gerrish and Charlie Rainville. At the end of the 1965 season, chassis 764 was retired from active duty and eventually dismantled. From the Rainville estate, it was sold in 1985 through specialist David Castelhano to Swedish enthusiast Dan Hedborg. He had the car restored and re-painted yellow. Following a lengthy spell in Scandinavia, it passed to French enthusiast François Cointreau in 2010. It was sold to a compatriot in 2018 and re-painted red. Fitted with a bored-out, 850cc engine, it was campaigned in select historic events before it was entrusted to Gooding & Co. for the 2023 Amelia Island Auctions.
