Chassis:
Fitted with a BMW M10 engine and Hewland HD5 gearbox, this Mk 8 was delivered to its first owner, Peter Goetz, on July 23, 1965. An American amateur racer, Goetz had previously campaigned a Porsche RSK and Elva Mk 7 with some success and also raced at Sebring in one of the mighty Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sports. Sharing with George Wintersteen, Goetz raced the Mk 8 in the Road America 500 Miles twice, finishing 10th overall on both attempts. It subsequently had several long-term owners on the West Coast before it was repatriated to the United Kingdom. In the hands of Roger Wills, it was raced with considerable success during the 2010s. Chassis 80/09 has since been acquired by an English historic racer.
