Chassis:
One of three 512 BBs entered in the 1978 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this example was fielded by Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team (NART). It looked set to claim a IMSA GTX class win until the stock gearbox failed during the 19th hour while running 11th overall. Chinetti retained the car after its single Le Mans outing before selling it in 1980 to Glen Kalil from Florida. He used the car on the road during his brief ownership. In 1981, it joined the massive Ferrari stable of Walter Medlin where it remained for 42 years. Medlin left the car as is during this period and it was eventually consigned as part of the ‘Lost & Found Collection’ to the 2023 RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction. It is need of a complete mechanical restoration before it can be enjoyed once more.
