Chassis:
A works car, this 908 was built ahead of the 1969 season with a long-tail body. It was entered in the Daytona 24 Hours for Vic Elford and Brian Redman. The British pairing qualified on pole position but retired from the race with engine issues. Back in Germany, it was converted to Spyder configuration and finished in Martini colours. In this guise, it was raced by the factory team at several 1000-kilometre races during the 1970 season with a sixth at the Nürburgring as the best result. It was then sold to Christian Poirot, who had several 908s. Still in Spyder configuration, it was raced at Le Mans in 1975 but a drive shaft failure ended its charge early. Retained by the Poirot family, it was sold to the current owner in 2017. The car was restored to its original Daytona 24 Hours configuration. It was pressed back into service during the 2023 Le Mans Classic where it was reunited with Brian Redman for a couple of demonstration laps.
