Chassis:
A works car, this Sport Quattro was originally used by Hannu Mikkola during the 1984 World Rally Championship. It was then entrusted to Audi UK and driven to victory in the 1986 Welsh International and National Breakdown rallies by Mikkola. It also appeared in several videos and books and was later painted silver by Audi UK to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hans Stuck’s win in the Shelsley Welsh hill-climb with an Auto Union Grand Prix car. It was acquired by a long-term owner in 2003 and subsequently restored to the 1984 works livery. Demonstrated at a select number of events, it was eventually consigned as one of the headliners of the 2023 Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed sale.
