Chassis: XKSS 707
Conceived as D-Type XKD 564, this Jaguar was one of the original examples transformed into XKSS specification. It was finished in cream with a red leather interior and sold to American racer Lou Brero Sr. He was sadly killed in a racing accident before he could take delivery and XKSS 707 found its first owner in fellow racer Sammy Weiss instead. The Jaguar was then acquired by American enthusiast Sidney Colberg. He would regularly use the car before it was repatriated by Anthony Bamford. At this time, the XKSS had been re-painted black. In 1976, it was sold on to Campbell McLaren. A proud Scot, he had it re-finished once more, now in the colours of Ecurie Ecosse. Between 1976 and 2023, it changed hands only twice and was never completely restored. Having acquired the car in 2011, the latest longterm owner consigned XKSS 707 to headline the 2023 RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction.
