Chassis:
The second 250 GT SWB California Spyders built, this open-headlight example was finished in blue with red Connolly leather interior. It was sold new to Robert Fusina, who was the president of Litex S.a.S. In November of 1960, it was shown at the Turin Motor Show and a year later it was sold to Alessandro Terni. He had the car re-painted in a lighter blue and had a roll-over bar fitted for competition use. It was subsequently entered in the 1962 Targa Florio where original owner Fusina and Guido de Bonis finished third in class. The car remained in the Turin area for another year before it was acquired by American enthusiast Bob Grossman. The car had several subsequent American owners and was eventually restored and re-painted red. It was eventually repatriated to Europe during the early 2000s. In the mid 2010s, it was restored and painted black for its German owner. At this time, it was also Ferrari Classiche certified. In 2023, it was repainted once again, this time to its Targa Florio configuration. The roll-over bar was also added again. Believed to be the only California Spyder to have ever raced in the Targa Florio in period, it was consigned later in the year as one of the headliners of the three-day RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction.
