Chassis:
This exuberant one-off Delage D8-120 was clothed by the exclusive carrossier de Villars in Paris. Built on the Sport chassis, the two-tone Cabriolet features striking riveted fenders and tail section. While visiting Paris in 1938, the unique Delage caught the attention of American Otto Zipper, the owner of Precision Motors in Beverley Hills. He was told the car was not for sale but he did not forget about the de Villars Cabriolet and managed to acquire it 20 years later with an impressive 100,000 km on the odometer. It was eventually acquired by Sam and Emily Mann. Lovingly restored to its original configuration, it won Best of Show at the 1996 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Having spent 60 years in North America, it was acquired by a Swiss enthusiast during the late 2010s. In 2022, it was awarded Best of Show at the Hampton Court Palace Concours d’Elegance. This qualified the Delage for the Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award, which it duly won in August of 2023.
