One of 20 Evo 2 cars built, this 037 was sold new to the Italian Grifone team for Fabrizio Tabaton to compete in the 1984 Italian Rally championship. Liveried in Olio Fiat / Hertz colours, it was driven to multiple wins that year. Raced through to March of 1985, Tabaton used 412 to score six wins out of nine starts. It was then sold to Garage Centrale and painted in Wurth colours for Gianfranco Cunico. Raced with considerable success for two more seasons, it was retired during 1987. Following a mechanical rebuild, it was painted in works Martini colours and sold to an Italian collector. It 1998, it was sold to a British enthusiast, who had refurbished for occasional use. In 2007, it was acquired by a compatriot, who also used the car regularly before sending to Italy for a mechanical rebuilt and respray to its original colours early in 2022. Following an appearance at that year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, it was consigned to the 2023 Bonhams Goodwood Revival sale.
