Chassis:
The fourth W04 built, this example was used by Lewis Hamilton in 14 of the 19-round 2013 Formula 1 World Championship. He qualified the car on pole position four times, finished on the podium four times and crucially used W04/04 to score his maiden win with the Mercedes-Benz F1 team at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Retired after the final Grand Prix of the 2.4-litre V8 era, it was eventually offered for sale by Mercedes-Benz Classic. The only example believed to be in private hands, W04/04 was consigned to the 2023 RM Sotheby’s Las Vegas sale. One of the auction headliners, Lewis Hamilton’s first winning Mercedes-Benz was given a $10 - $15 million estimate.
