Chassis:
Allocated to Kimi Räikönen for the start of the 2006 Formula 1 World Championship, this chassis debuted at the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix. Starting 22nd on the grid after issues in qualifying, the Fin recovered with an impressive third-place finish. He subsequently used chassis 02 to second in the Australian Grand Prix, fourth at the Nürburgring and fifth on three different occasions. After the French Grand Prix, Räikönen switched to a newer MP4-21 and this car was not raced again. It was eventually fully restored by McLaren and, ready to run, it was sold to a private collector. In 2023, it was consigned to the Bonhams Abu Dhabi sale.
