Chassis:
Originally a factory demonstrator, this Grand Prix White Carrera RS 3.0 was exported to the United States on July 14, 1974. Its first private owner was Sydney Butler of Memphis, Tennessee. In 1977, it was acquired by Butler’s friend Charles Stoddard, who was a Porsche distributor himself. As coincidence would have it, he had been in the passenger seat of this very car in a demonstration run at the Hockenheimring with Jürgen Barth behind the wheel during the model’s launch back in 1974. He would own and cherish the Carrera RS 3.0 for nearly two decades and since 1996, it has had only three private owners. Still in highly original condition, it joined a phenomenal stable of Houston-based white Porsches in 2017. Along with the rest of the collection, it was consigned to RM Sotheby’s dedicated White Collection auction.
