Little is known about the early history of this 402 Darl'mat. It is believed to have spent most of its secluded life in France. Some 20 years ago it finally surfaced at a Peugeot dealership in Nice. In original but well worn condition the little Peugeot Roadster passed through variants hands before it was acquired by a Mr Fallon in 2001. He laid out a careful restoration plan to get the car ready for the 2004 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, which featured a special 'Georges Paulin / Pourtout' class.
Restored to a staggering condition, it deservedly duly won the special class at Pebble. It is seen here during subsequent outings at the 2005 Quail, a Motorsports Gathering and the 2006 Palm Beach International, a Concours d'Elegance. At both occasions the beautiful two-seater received further awards. Mr Fallon has since sold the car on to the current custodian, who has decided to offer the very rare Roadster at Gooding's inaugural Amelia Island Auction. It is expected to sell for $650,000 - $850,000.
