Chassis:
Built specifically for the 1960 Sebring 12 Hours, this 250 GT SWB was fielded for George Arents and Bill Kimberley by Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team (NART). The wealthy and talented pairing finished the race in seventh overall and fifth in class. The SWB then passed to Bob Grossman, who raced it successfully in local SCCA events. In 1961, it was raced by Bob Hathaway, who also scored some great results in SCCA and other local events. Retired from contemporary racing at the end of the season, it remained in the United States until 1979. Following a spell in Europe, it returned to the USA in 1999 and was subsequently owned by noted collectors Bruce McCaw and John Romano. In 2014, the ex-NART Ferrari joined the Pinnacle Collection and was comprehensively restored by Wayne Obry’s Motion Products to its Sebring 12 Hours configuration and then Ferrari Classiche Certified in 2023. The following year, it was consigned as the headliner of the annual RM Sotheby’s Paris sale.
