Chassis:
First seen at the practice session for the 1977 Belgian Grand Prix, chassis 771/1 was not raced until after Ian Scheckter had destroyed 771/2 at Watkins Glen. Hastily shipped to Mosport and built up using parts from the crashed car, chassis 771/1 was ready in time for the Canadian Grand Prix. Scheckter qualified 18th on the grid but was forced to retire when a valve-spring broke. Not raced in Formula 1 again, the chassis was later sold to Roy Lane together with the 2-4-0 drivetrain. Used both with a conventional rear axle and in six-wheel configuration, Lane used the car with considerable success in the 1979 British Hill Climb championship. Not used again after the 1979 season, the 771 chassis was eventually acquired by Martin Stretton, who restored the car to its Formula 1 configuration. Having spent many years in Italy, it joined the collection of French dealer Jean Guikas in the mid-2010s. In 2021, it was sold with a considerable chunk of the collection at auction. Chassis 771/1 then returned to the track the following year, competing in the Monaco Historic Grand Prix.
