Chassis:
One of fifty 250 GTs clothed at Ezio Ellena’s workshop, this ‘high roof’ Ellena Coupe was an American market model delivered new through Luigi Chinetti Motors. It was finished in Chamois over a light beige interior. Chassis 0837GT was sold to the Mid West and re-appeared with RRR Motors from Homewood, Illinois in the early 1960s. For reasons unknown, it was re-numbered at the dealership to 0755GT, a number swapped with a sister car. As 0755GT, the Ellena Coupe was sold to Gerald S. Kupa. He used the car briefly before running into engine trouble. Kupa took on the task of rebuilding the engine himself but it proved too complicated. As a result, the Ellena Coupe sat for many decades in storage. Recently discovered and still in need of an engine rebuild, the highly original 250 GT Coupe was consigned to the 2024 Gooding Amelia Island Auctions.
