Ready for the start of the 1971 Formula 1 World Championship, this M19A was allocated to Denis Hulme. He debuted with a sixth place finish and later in the year also scored two podiums. It was subsequently raced by Jackie Oliver, Mark Donohue, Peter Revson and Brian Redman. During the 1972 United States Grand Prix, future World Champion Jody Scheckter used M19A-1 to make his F1 debut. It was subsequently rebuilt to F5000 configuration by substituting the Cosworth DFV with a Chevrolet small-block V8. In this guise, it was raced through to the start of the 1975 season. By the early 1980s, it had been restored to its Formula 1 guise and raced in historic events by John Foulston. In more recent years, it was reunited with Jody Scheckter. The South African subsequently consigned the M19A with the rest of his collection to the 2024 RM Sotheby’s Monaco sale.
