Chassis:
The fourth PTG BMW M3 GT built, this example was fitted from new with the BMW M5 V8 engine. It was prepared for the 2001 Grand Am championship for the JET Motorsports team for Toney Jennings and long-time PTG driver Terry Borcheller to race. They debuted the car at Daytona where they were assisted by works drivers Hans-Joachim Stuck and Boris Said. An oil leak anded the charge early. The pace shown in qualifying and the race had the governing body worried, so a 100 lbs weight penalty and tighter restrictors were mandated. Jennings and Borcheller nevertheless scored a class win at the very next outing, at Homestead. They also won the Lime Rock GT race outright and scored another class win, at Mid Ohio. In 2002, chassis 004 was fielded under the Bell Motorsports banner and scored one more class win, with Boris Said driving at Phoenix. It was last raced early in the 2003 season and shortly thereafter sold to Danny Alvis. He drove the car in several BMW Club meeting before he passed away in 2007. The next custodian continued to race the car, in SVRA and HSR events. In 2012, it was brought back to PTG Racing for a refresh. As it turned out this was the last car to leave the shop as it closed its doors shortly thereafter. In 2018, it was sold at auction with a considerable spares package. By 2024, it had made its way into the hands of a British enthusiast who ran the car in the Endurance Racing Legends.
