Chassis:
Built to BPR specification, this 911 GT1 was ordered new by Roock Racing, who paid the princely sum of DM 1,759,000, which was the equivalent of $1,075,000. Boasting a silver and blue livery, it was raced in the newly established FIA GT Championship by Ralf Kelleners and Yannick Dalmas. It was also entered at Le Mans, where it was shared by Allan McNish, Stéphane Ortelli and Karl Wendlinger. Sadly, an accident ended the charge early. Once repaired, it was sold to America-based German Jochen Rohr. Now finished in a colourful yellow, it was immediately driven to victory in the Mosport SportsCar GTS race. With Andy Pilgrim and Allan McNish behind the wheel, victories were also scored in the GTS races at Las Vegas, Pikes Peak and Sebring. For the 1998 season, it was sold to Joel Reiser. He campaigned the car in several local Canadian races. Chassis 108 was pressed back into service with American Larry Schumacher for a handful of races in 2001. Sharing with Gunnar Jeannette, Schumacher scored a class win in the GP Lime Rock GT race. Following its contemporary racing career, the 911 GT1 joined the formidable collection of Matt Drendel. Returned to Rohr Racing colours, it was sold after Drendel had added a factory 911 GT1 to his stable. It entered into long-term ownership, it was fastidiously maintained and kept in full running condition. Offered on the open market for the first time in well over a decade, chassis 993-GT1-108 was consigned to headline the 2024 Broad Arrow Auctions Monterey Jet Center sale.
