Chassis:
When the Audi factory-backed R8 program was wound down by Champion Racing at the end of the 2005 season, a large number of spare parts, including two spare tubs were left over. Chassis 607 was the second of these and it was eventually built into a complete car for American racer Jim Rogers in 2009 by Champion Racing and with the help of Audi Sport’s Brad Kettler. Among the parts used were reportedly the engine that won Le Mans and a gearbox that was used successfully at Sebring. It was finished in the Champion Racing colours as used by the earlier R8 also owned by Rogers at the time. Once completed, chassis 607 was used in historic racing and it was also demonstrated by Tom Kristensen ahead of the 2016 Sebring 12 Hours during which Turn 3 was named in his honour. In the early 2020s, it was sold to a French gentleman racer with a formidable collection. He first campaigned the Audi at the 2024 Mugello Classic.
