Chassis:
One of three T26 Grand Sports clothed by Antem, this particular car was commissioned by French steel magnate Michel-Paul Cavalier. He was also a member of Talbot Lago board and would later also hold a similar function at Ferrari. Considering its first owner, it is not surprising that this Grand Sport was not quite like the others. It was equipped with all-aluminium engine that sported twin-spark ignition and a large oil-cooler, making this the most powerful of all the T26 road cars. The rolling chassis was clothed with an elegant coupe body by Antem with the design inspired by the Italian berlinettas of the time. The front fenders can be tilted forward to provide better access to the 260 bhp engine. By 1955, Cavalier had sold the one-off Talbot Lago and a few years later, it moved across the Atlantic.
In 1962, it joined the long-term ownership of Californian enthusiasts Lindley and Betty Locke. At the time, chassis 110112 had accident damage but was shortly thereafter repaired and regularly used on the road. By the early 1980s, mechanical issues forced the car off the road. The car remained in the collection until the mid 2010s when it was acquired from Betty Locke by a Czech Talbot Lago enthusiast. He set about restoring the still highly original car to its original configuration. In 2024, the Antem Fastback Coupe was shown at the Chantilly Arts & Elegance. It participated in the Tour and was awarded ‘Best in Class’ and ‘Best of Show’ the following day.
