Chassis:
The eighth M8FP built, this car is believed to have not been raced by its first custodian. Instead, it was sold to Bill and Frank Kahlick ahead of the 1973 season. Frank Kahlick made an appearance with the car at Riverside in October of 1973 but failed to finish the Can-Am race. Chassis 8-72 was then sold to Bill Cuddy, who raced the car most extensively, recording a seventh place finish in the 1974 Road American Can-Am race. The next custodian was Bud Romak, who also raced the car until it was involved in a fiery crash at Sears Point. Hal Whipple subsequently bought the wreck from Romak and commenced with a complete restoration. Since the work was completed, the car has been regularly campaigned in historic events. The most recent, Dutch, owner demonstrated the M8FP at the 2024 Goodwood Members’ Meeting.
