Chassis:
The one-off 208A was sold new through American Abarth distributor Tony Pompeo to the DuPont family. They would retain the Boano Convertible for a few years before selling it to a family friend. Soon after, he gifted the car to fellow aircraft mechanic Bill Hale in 1973. He would go on to own and enjoy the car for over three decades. During the final years, it was hidden in storage in Long Island. It was ‘discovered’ by Abarth enthusiast Elad Shraga in 2007 but it would take a further two years before he convinced Hale to sell him the car. Still in highly original condition, it was shown at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in 2013. Some years later, it was sold and received a sympathetic cosmetic restoration under the supervision of Corrado Lopresto. Early in 2025, it was consigned to the RM Sotheby’s Paris sale.
