Chassis:
A late production 8V, this example was with the Series 2 version of the Rapi-designed factory bodywork. Once completed, it was dispatched to the Fiat Dipartimento Esperince, which was factory experimental department at Lingotto with its famous test-track on the roof. The Rapi Berlinetta remained in Lingotto for three years before it was sold its first private owner. Exactly what happened during the car in this three-year period has not been documented. Over the next decades, the Fiat 8V remained in Italy, changing hands only once per one or two decades. It was eventually acquired from relatively long-term ownership by Belgian specialist Dirk Libeert in 2010. Its foreign sojourn proved brief, as the Fiat returned to Italy two years later. Here it resumed its appearances in events like the Mille Miglia retrospective. Never restored, it remains in highly original but fully functional condition. Last used at the Mille Miglia in 2015, it was consigned to the 2025 Gooding Amelia Island Auctions.
