Chassis:
The sixth and final BT52 produced, this is one of two built to ‘B’ specification from new. It was raced during the 1983 Formula 1 World Championship by Riccardo Patrese. The Italian used this chassis to win the South African Grand prix and also finished on the podium with BT52-6 in the German Grand Prix. For his home Grand Prix at Monza, he claimed pole position in this car. Retired at the end of the 1983 F1 season, it was retained by team owner Bernie Ecclestone for four decades. It was restored to full running order and demonstrated at the 2023 Goodwood Members’ Meeting before it was sold with the rest of the Ecclestone Collection to an Austrian enthusiast through Tom Hartley Jnr.
