Chassis:
The very first of four A442s built, this car debuted at the 1975 Dijon 500 km with Jean-Pierre Jabouille and Gérard Larrousse behind the wheel. Immediately showcasing its potential, chassis 442/0 qualified on pole position. A water leak ended the charge early. Later in the year, it also claimed pole position at the Nürburgring and Watkins Glen but a fourth in Germany was ultimately the best result. In 1977, it was raced under the J. Haran de Chaunac banner at Le Mans but reliability issues again prompted an early retirement. Its last contemporary appearance was at Le Mans the following year, where it served as a spare. Along with all but one of the four A442s produced, this example was retained by Renault. It remained in the Renault Collection until it was consigned to the 2025 Artcurial Renault Icons sale.
