Chassis:
The second of a pair of Courage C60s acquired ahead of the 2001 by the Pescarolo Sport team. Powered by a Sodemo developed twin-turbo Peugeot V6 engine, it was entered for Emmanuel Clérico, Didier Cottaz and Boris Dericherbourg. The French trio started 20th on the grid but an accident ended their charge early. For 2002, it was updated with proprietary bodywork and finished 10th. The following year, chassis 4 did one better with and finished 9th. For the 2004 season, the team’s two C60s were further developed and now re-homologated as a Pescarolo C60. The most significant change was a change of engine with the twin-turbo V6 making way for the Judd GV5 V10. In its fourth outing at Le Mans, it was driven by Erik Comas, Benoit Tréluyer and Soheil Ayari, who finished an impressive fourth from 11th on the grid.
A significant rule change prompted the final evolution of the Pescarolo Courages. The adaptation was once again made by designer Andre Cortanze and included a faux second roll-over structure and raised sills. The ‘Hybrid’ specification of the Pescarolo C60 immediately impressed by setting the fastest time at the Le Mans Test. Starting from pole position, it was then raced to second overall in the race by Jean-Christophe Bouillon, Erik Comas and Emmanuel Collard. At its first race outside of Le Mans, chassis 4 was then immediately grabbed victory in the Monza 1000 km with Bouillon and Collard behind the wheel. They also scored a victory later in the year in Istanbul. It was not raced again after the 2005 season.
