Chassis:
Completed by Pinin Farina in August of 1955, this 250 Europa GT combined a grey exterior with an orange Connolly leather interior. It was then loaned to Parisian dealership Autoval to be displayed on their stand on the 1955 Paris Auto Salon. Before the end of the year, it was sold to New York City resident David Leopold. In 1960, the cylinder heads were damaged and the engine was replaced with a later outside-plug 250 GT V12. In 1964, it was acquired by noted collector Charles Betz, who would go on to own it at least twice more later in its life. Following a number of American custodians, it was acquired by Sam Mann, who had the car fastidiously restored. During this process, it was re-finished in dark blue with a tan leather interior. Following a further spell in the ownership of Charles Betz, it was acquired by longterm custodians in 2013. They had the car restored to its original configuration by Rare Drive in New Hampshire. As part of the process, a new engine was built by specialist Patrick Ottis using a correct type 112 specification block supplied by Ferrari Classiche. Since the work was completed, it was shown at the Cavallino Classic, earning a Platinum Award on three different occasions. In 2024, it received Ferrari Classiche Red Book certified. Two years later, it was consigned to the 2026 RM Sotheby’s Cavallino Palm Beach auction.
