Chassis:
Completed in September of 1961, this 250 GT SWB California was finished in Bianco Saratoga over a black Connolly leather interior. It was dispatched to Auto Becker in Germany and shown at the IAA Motor Show in Frankfurt. The following month, it was sold to André Budi-Medawar, who kept the car in Rome. In 1965, it was exported to the United States through Luigi Chinetti Motors. By 1969, the covered headlight California Spyder had entered the ownership of famous actor Kenneth Mars. He owned the car for over three decades before it returned to Germany in 2000. It was then completely restored by Bacchelli & Villa and repainted dark blue with a beige interior. It was sold again in 2019 and the next custodian had the car re-restored by Dino Cognolato. Now finished in Blu Scuro over a red leather interior, it was also fully Ferrari Classiche ‘Red Book’ certified. Since the restoration, it was shown at the 2022 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. With 2,447 km on the clock since the most recent restoration, the matching numbers Ferrari was then consigned to headline the 2026 RM Sotheby’s Monaco sale.
