Featured is the second A-Type, built for Humphrey Cook, one of ERA's financial backers. It started life as a 1.1 litre car to qualify for the smaller displacement races, but soon after it was equipped with a more powerful 1.5 litre engine. After a brief spell as a works racer, R2A was sold off to Greek privateer Nicky Embiricos. He had ex-Maserati employee Giulio Ramponi fit a modern Tecnauto independent front suspension. Sadly he crashed the car on its first outing and decided to end his career as an active driver. It was further modified and used into the 1950s, but with little success.

Today the R2A is brought back to its 1937 specification complete with the Tecnauto suspension system, standard body and 1.5 litre engine. Like many other ERAs it is frequently campaigned in historic racing events. It is pictured here at one such outing; the 2005 Monterey Historic Races.
