Chassis: 0484LM
This is the first of the straight-six cylinder engined Ferraris. It was first tested with a three-litre engine but made its competition debut as the 3.7-litre 118 LM. After half a season s/n 0484 was equipped with the larger and more powerful 4.4 litre engine. After its services for the works team, the 118/121 LM was actively raced in North America for Scuderia Parravano by drivers like Phill Hill and Carroll Shelby. Following Parravano’s legal issues, the car passed to Bob Sorrell in 1959. He had served as Parravano’s chief mechanic. Retained by Sorrell for 26 years, it then joined the prominent Ferrari collection of Peter Sachs. He had it comprehensively restored before he raced and showed at a variety of events during the next two decades. Following a brief spell in the stable of an another American collection before it was acquired by the current custodian in 2024. Although it is currently fitted with a 121 LM engine, chassis 0484LM the sole survivor of the three 118 LMs constructed.
