Featured is the very first 246 SP constructed (0790), which was actively campaigned between 1961 and 1964 by the works and a number of privateers. Entered by the works team it won the 1961 Targa Florio and the 1962 Nürburgring 1000 km. Before it was sold to a privateer, 0790 was converted to 196 SP specifications. After its racing career, it was stored for almost forty years until it emerged again in 2002 in a stunningly original condition. Fortunately, all the new owner did before taking it to the track again was give it a mechanical tune-up. Since then this time-warp racer has been out on track many times, but also proved to be a favourite in the most prestigious of concours. It is pictured here at the 2005 Cavallino Classic.
