Chassis:
Completed in May of 1961, this is the fifth 250 GT SWB built to Comp/61 or 'SEFAC Hot Rod' specification. It was sold new to Swedish racer Gunnar Andersson, who debuted it in the Spa 500km where he placed second. Sharing with Carl Lomander, he then went on to win the Mille Miglia stage rally. Andersson then brought the car to Scandinavia where it was raced briefly until an accident in August of 1961 ended its contemporary racing career. It was returned to Scaglietti, where it was fitted with the bodywork from the sister Comp/61 that had been converted to the 'Breadvan'. Once repaired, it was returned to Sweden where it remained in the hands of successive owners through to the mid-1990s. From the mid-1960s, it had been painted blue and while in American ownership during the late 1990s, it was re-painted red. While in the ownership of Jean-Pierre Slavic, during the first half of the 2000s, it was shown at select events before being consigned to the Bonhams Gstaad auction in 2004. It was not sold but was eventually acquired by a German collector in the second half of the 2000s. By that time it had been restored to its original configuration and off-white paint-scheme. Since then, it has been campaigned in select events like the Tour Auto and Goodwood Revival.
