Chassis:
This is the second of four D23 Spyders built by Lancia to race during the 1953 season. With Felice Bonetto behind the wheel, it finished second in its debut at the Gran Premio di Monza. Later in the year, it was driven to victory in the GP Lisabon and Bologna Raticorsa. It was also raced by Giovanni Bracco in the Carrera Panamericana where Lancias finished first, second and third. Unfortunately, a broken rear wheel ended the charge of Bracco early. Of the four examples built, this is the only to have survived. It was displayed for many years in the Rosso Bianco museum near Frankfurt. Since the mid-2000s, it is part of the formidable Louwman Collection. Since acquiring the car, it has been restored and painted in the striking blue livery used by Bonetto at the Monza debut.
