Chassis:
California based coachbuilder Bohman & Schwartz are best known for modifying existing designs but this very elegant Convertible Coupe shows that they were quite capable of creating coachwork from scratch. Built on a short chassis Duesenberg with a supercharged engine, it was bought by Woolworth heir Barbara Hutton for Prince Serge M'Divani. Unfortunately the Russian aristocrat died not long after in a polo accident. The Duesenberg was subsequently bought by an automotive engineer Jerry Gabby. He used the car extensively and even raced it up the legendary Pikes Peak hillclimb. After thirty years of ownership, he eventually sold the car. Today it's owned by a prominent East Coast collector, who showed the SJ Duesenberg during the 2009 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, where Bohman & Schwartz was the featured coachbuilder.
