Chassis:
Completed in 1981, chassis 005 was one of the last M379s. It was driven at Le Mans that year by defending champions Jean Rondeau and Jean-Pierre Jaussaud. Unfortunately a crack in the chassis resulted in major handling problems and an early retirement. Fully repaired, the car was entered a year later by Jacky Haran with a very colourful livery. Unfortunately chassis 005 failed to reach the finish again, this time as the result of engine problems. It was not used again and has since been restored to its works 'Otis' colours. The Rondeau is seen here in action at the 2008 Le Mans Classic where it was co-driven by Henri Pescarolo. He can easily be recognised by his bright green helmet.
