Chassis:
Only 24 examples of the Sports Saloon clothed Mark II were built and sadly quite a few were converted to the more desirable 'Ulster' specification. Chassis K4/513/L is a rare exception and one of just a handful of Sports Saloons to have survived with the original coach-work. It was owned for a long time by British Aston Martin enthusiast Donald Proffitt. He successfully entered the car in various concours d'elegance throughout the early 1980s.
The spectacular Sports Saloon was subsequently sold to the United States and eventually passed into the ownership of James Carter Wright. He entered the car in the 1989 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where it received a second in class award. His family offered the car in Bonhams' Greenwich Concours auction where it sold for just over $155,000. The current owner has decided to part with the car again and has entered it in the July 2nd Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed auction. The pre-sale estimate is a very reasonable 110,000 - 130,000 Pounds.
