Chassis:
Owned since the early 1990s by an American collector and historic racer, this Ferrari 512 S was long believed to be chassis 1004. However in recent years, Ferrari Classiche certified another 512 S as 1004 and stated that this, absolutely genuine car, was more likely to be 1046. Before the current owner acquired the car, it was owned by the Herbert Mueller Racing Team but probably not raced in period. It subsequently passed through the hands of noted collector French Pierre Bardinon before it was sold to Germany and then to the United States. Making regular appearances at historic events across the country, the striking 512 S is seen here in action during the 2008 Monterey Historic Races.
