Chassis:
Chassis P34/2 was the first all new P34. It was used by Patrick Depailler in the model's debut race and he continued to campaign it for the remainder of the 1976 season and the two opening races of 1977. He finished second on three occasions and in third twice. After its active racing career, it was acquired by Tom Wheatcroft for his Donnington Grand Prix Collection. Here it remained in completely original condition until 2010 when P34/2 was purchased by a collector and historic racer from New Zealand. Carefully preserving the car's time-warp state, it was brought back to full running order in a very short time to show it at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It only really needed a clean-up and fresh rubber hoses, fluids and plugs. It was then raced at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, before it was sold to an Italian enthusiast, who also owns P34/5. The former Formula 1 racer restored P34/2 to its original 1976 configuration and livery, making it the only one of the original P34s in private hands that is current in 1976 specification. In 2024, he demonstrated the P34 at the Estoril Classics.
