Privateer racer Richard Macon was the first owner of this McLaren M1A. Like the original works cars, chassis 20-07 was equipped with an Oldsmobile V8 engine. Macon raced the car in the United States throughout the 1965 season in the USSRC championship. His best result was a sixth at Riverside. Since then the car has been completely restored and currently sports a more competitive Chevrolet V8. During the 2000s, it was owned by McLaren enthusiast John Bladon, who has owned as many as five different M1s over the years. He raced the car at historic events like the Goodwood Revival before selling it to the United States.
