Chassis:
Considered by Pourtout as a sister car to the legendary Embiricos Bentley, this Delage D8-120 was proudly displayed by the French coach-builder at the 1938 Paris Auto Show. Its exquisite lines were penned by Georges Paulin, who was responsible for most of Pourtout's designs of the period. A few months later the car was sold to a Mr. Destruel, who specified several changes to be made by Pourtout before taking delivery. He used the car extensively and carefully hid it away during the War.
Although it changed hands only once until 1989, the lovely Delage had a very tough life. When it was finally discovered by a car dealer in 1989, the Pourtout Coupe was lying on its side in a French field. It was displayed as discovered at Retromobile and soon after it was acquired by a noted Belgian collector. He had the Delage D8-120 meticulously restored to its original specifications. Since then, it has only been shown a handful of times. Chassis 51612 can be seen here during the 2011 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
