Chassis:
The first of three Lotus 88 tubs built ahead of the 1981 season, chassis 88/1 was entered in the first three Grands Prix of the 1981 season. Thrown out at every occasion, it never actually raced. Updated to 88B specification, it is the only example of the twin-chassis Lotus in existence; the other two were rebuilt as Type 87s. Today it is owned by Classic Team Lotus and regularly demonstrated. It is seen here at the 2007 and 2011 editions of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. In 2011 it set the fastest time of the weekend in the hands of Dan Collins.
