Chassis:
Elio de Angelis debuted the Type 87 at the 1981 Monaco Grand Prix with this chassis. He failed to reach the finish but would go on to use the car to rack up most of his points of the 1981 season. It was also part of thwarted British Grand Prix entry, where it was entered as Type 88B only to be converted to 87 specification overnight when the twin-chassis design was banned for a final time. The car raced on into 1982 when De Angelis finished 8th in the South African Grand Prix. Still sporting its 1982 colours, it is seen here during the 2005 Silverstone Classic.
