Chassis:
Shown at the 1948 Paris Motor Show, this Delahaye 135 M was clothed by Pourtout with a thoroughly modern Cabriolet body. Named after the Paris suburb Rueil-Malmaison where Pourtout was based, the 'Malmaison' was one of the first creations of the coach builder with fully integrated 'pontoon' fenders. In the following year the car was entered in various concours d'elegance before being sold to its first, French owner. Still in French hands, the car was meticulously restored in the late 1980s with the help from Marcel Pourtout's son Claude.
Shortly after the work was completed, the Malmaison Cabriolet was offered at auction in New York. The winning bidder was an American enthusiast and since then the Delahaye 135 M has passed through various hands but was never shown in any of the major events. Still in stunning condition, it has now returned to its native Paris, France for Artcurial's upcoming Retromobile sale on February 3rd. The pre-sale estimate is 280,000 - 400,000 Euro.
