Chassis:
The second batch 4CS 1100s was not ordered until 1935. Chassis is 1124 is the first of three cars built that year. It was commissioned by Scuderia Subalpina, who also had a larger engined 4CS 1500 built. The team raced the car at various events, including the 1935 Mille Miglia. At some point, it received the larger 1500 cc engine, possibly for the sister 4CS ordered at the same time. Later in its life it was further modified and received an elegant sports car body.
It eventually ended up in the hands of Briggs Cunningham, who displayed it in his museum. After his death another great collector, Peter Kaus, bought the car and showed it for many years in his Rosso Bianco museum until he sold his entire collection. The very rare 4CS was then offered at Bonhams' 2006 Grandes Marques sale in Monaco where it sold for a staggering EUR643,000. The car is now being restored to as close to its original condition as possible with a new body and a correct beam axle to replace the Fiat-sourced independent front suspension.
